I love morning rituals. Drinking quality loose leaf tea every day makes me feel like a lucky lady! Thank you @salonsenthe for your great selection! Today is Sencha Mobata
There is a very nice ceramics exhibition at the Georges Vanier Cultural center right now.
Here I am on my day off, leisurely shopping in Verdun and still checking out pottery like an obsessive person! These two mugs are very similar in shape but the top one (by @not_madeinchina ) is nice and smooth with an interesting surface while the other one (mass produced) is gritty and must be incredibly annoying to handle and wash. Good design makes a huge difference.
Analyzing glaze tests next to the window and trying to figure out which colors I’m going to use for the mugs. As usual, I’m having trouble with red, but I have good starting points for greens and blues.
Three more mugs kicking around. I’m still new at this shape so I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Mug prototype number 2. It’s getting there but today I’m mixing up about 20 tests for various glazes and combos so I can come up with something interesting for the insides of my mugs. I’ve been wanting to explore glazes for a long time but didn’t have a product I could do it with. I’m glad I can finally go crazy with colors on a piece!
Here is the Herbotheque’s beautiful garden. I just love these Echinacea flower
Kiln unload! I’m really happy with how my pieces turned out. I’ll have some stock to bring out to Festi-herbes this week-end and a new mug prototype to drink out of.
Working from home this morning. One of my crappy and inadequate canvasses (that I’ve been using for two years for rolling out slabs of clay) flew off in the wind while drying and disappeared. I’m very happy to be sewing up new canvasses of thicker fabric. I always love getting new tools.
Glazing time! These beauties will be available at Festi-Herbes this week-end.
When you’re not paying attention to your gps sometimes you just get to the end of the road.
I had to do regular checkups at the hospital this morning and now that it’s done I really feel like I deserve this coffee! I’m also starting to like this prototype. It’s been around for about a month and I totally hated it at fist. I still think it could use a little ‘pop’. I’m thinking using a colored glaze on the inside. What do you think?

I always start my day with rolling out slabs of clay. It takes about an hour to roll out enough slabs for a day’s work
I’m on lunch break reading an interesting article on the industry of coffee, global warming and science. It’s in french, but I’ve also recently viewed a Vice News video report on the same topic if you’re interested.
Monday morning after a four day street sale is all about taking it slow.
